Cefprozil is a cephalosporin antibiotic used in the treatment of various bacterial infections, such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, and uncomplicated skin infections.
Cefprozil, like the penicillin, is a beta-lactam antibiotic. By binding to specific penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) located inside the bacterial cell wall, it inhibits the third and last stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Cell lysis is then mediated by bacterial cell wall autolytic enzymes such as autolysins; it is possible that cefprozil interferes with an autolysin inhibitor.

Cefprozil is commonly used to treat bacterial infections such as pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, bronchitis, and skin infections. It is effective against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms.
Salius offers complete documentation, including DMFs, CoAs, and CTD/eCTD dossiers, customized for Southeast Asian regulators such as BPOM (Indonesia) and FDA Philippines.
Cefprozil is intended for short-term use. Prolonged use is discouraged due to the risk of antimicrobial resistance and disruption of gut microbiota. Long-term use should only be under strict medical supervision.
Cefprozil is a second-generation cephalosporin that kills bacteria by inhibiting their cell wall synthesis, leading to cell rupture. It is effective in treating respiratory and soft tissue infections.
Typical side effects include: Diarrhea, Nausea, Abdominal pain, Skin rash. Rare but serious effects: allergic reactions, C. difficile-associated diarrhea, and elevated liver enzymes.
